I am a cinematographer based in Los Angeles. Originally from India, I graduated with MBA (Finance) from the illustrious ‘Sri Sathya Sai University’ in 2005. Flash forward 2 years, I decided to pursue my desire to create imagery. I shot and produced a variety of content in India. The first narrative feature I shot in 2011, UNDER THE SAME SUN, had a world premier at the Mill Valley Film Festival 2015 in San Francisco (won the Silver audience choice award) & recently, won the Best foreign film at the Sedona International Film Festival 2017. Subsequently, I had the opportunity to shoot a language feature, KANDATHAI SOLLUGIREN (2015) for National Award winning director, B.Lenin. Prior, I had collaborated with him on a documentary feature called JHATKA (2014). I had moved to Los Angeles in 2015 as a Cinematography fellow(MFA) at the American Film Institute (AFI).
I am fairly specialised in Stop-motion work and find the medium fascinating. I love operating the camera (handheld & wheels). My personal interests apart form working with ace collaborators & storytellers is to use film and film history towards education for a transformative experience. Over the past 100 years, this unique art form has generated enormous positive content that is relevant across time. I’ll be interested in curating & showcasing films to uphold culture and bring positive change in the community.
I want to network with collaborators who value meaningful cinema presented in a form that is entertaining and engaging. Also with educationalist who share the idea of using film for positive communal transformation.
