Since the year 2000, Gram Seva (village service) has been an integral part of the Dussehra festival celebrations in Prasanthi Nilayam(A.P., India). It is conducted annually by the Students of Sri Sathya Sai University.
The project covers distributing food and clothing to 500,000 needy people across 600 villages over a period of 10 days. This mammoth task involved over 35 trucks, 20 tractors, 800 students from 3 college campuses and a number of faculty members not to mention 700 girl students from the Anantapur Campus who worked tirelessly through each night preparing & packing the food.
The students carry out this task without any external help or support. A very unique feature of this project is its magnitude. The entire planning, organization and execution is completed in just one month. The project was initiated by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
This documentary tries to find reasoning behind such an activity, the discovery of a design that goes beyond the physical exercise of distributing food & clothes. It is an attempt to reveal the actual beneficiaries of this mammoth annual affair.
